Yaz-Birth-Control

Has anyone had severe side effects while on Yaz?

I'm thinking that I should maybe quit using birth control pills. I got on it in the first place to help with acne because nothing else worked. Yaz worked wonders but I definitely don't want to have a stroke or something. I haven't had any bad side effects at all so I'm probably just being paranoid. Does anyone have a suggestion?

  1. You are being parinoid. As long as you use the pill correctly you will be fine. I heard Yaz is the best Birth Control out there, so keep using it if it's working!!
  2. I used to get chest pains on yaz so I switched to femcon but that made my bleed everyday next im gonna try nuvaring maybe you should too.
  3. The risk of bad side effects is barely nothing. If you take it right, you will be fine. All i got with yaz was a month of slight sickness to my stomach.
  4. i started birth control for the same reason... about a week before my period, my face breaks out so bad, but then goes away as soon as i get my period... blah. I've tried lots and lots of bc pills, including yaz... with very bad results. I think it might just be me though, i think i'm allergic or something. Every kind has made me incredibly nauseous, as well as giving me really horrible migraines... i mean migraines that rival 12 hours of labor, followed by an emergency c-section's pain. so, i stopped. i guess you could count that as a severe side effect, but, again I just think i'm not compatible with birth control pills.
  5. the worst side effect i had was just being a b.i.t.c.h to everyone. that was bad enough for me to get the fuck off it though
  6. Yaz is one of the lowest dose pills on the market. You need to have your potassium level checked periodically while on it and should not take ibuprofen, naproxen or aspirin while on it because it can elevate the potassium level further. LoEstrin 24 is also low dose and NuvaRing is the lowest product on the market. The lower dose products have a lower chance of severe side effects. If it is working for you, I would stay on it!!
  7. Sarah, I'm currently taking yaz as well. Unless you suffer from the contraindications listed below, Yaz should be relatively low risk for you. I'm also writing about my own progress with the Yaz at my blog @ http://yazbc.blogspot.com YAZ should not be used in women who have the following: * Renal insufficiency * Hepatic dysfunction * Adrenal Insufficiency * Thrombophlebitis or thromboembolic disorders * A past history of deep-vein thrombophlebitis or thromboembolic disorders * Cerebral-vascular or coronary-artery disease (current or history) * Valvular heart disease with thrombogenic complications * Severe hypertension * Diabetes with vascular involvement * Headaches with focal neurological symptoms * Major surgery with prolonged immobilization * Known or suspected carcinoma of the breast * Carcinoma of the endometrium or other known or suspected estrogen-dependent neoplasia * Undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding * Cholestatic jaundice of pregnancy or jaundice with prior pill use * Known or suspected pregnancy * Liver tumor (benign or malignant) or active liver disease * Heavy smoking (>15 cigarettes per day) and over age 35 * Hypersensitivity to any component of this product
