Yaz-Birth-Control

Yaz!!!!!!!!!?

Ok so im 17. i am interested in taking the birth control Yaz. I dont want to take it to prevent pregnancy, cause I plan on staying a virgin until Iam married. But I want to take it to have a more regular period and not so bad cramps. Right now every period i have is late and I get cramps so bad on the first day I have to stay in bed. So from experience does anyone think Yaz is right for me or have used it or are using it now.

  1. Well you should talk to your doctor about it but in my opinion I would try something else. Yaz was the first birth control pill that I went on and it was awful. The commercial says that it helps with moody-ness but it just made mine worse. It was so bad to the point that I was crying all the time and so depressed and never wanted to get out of bed. But yet again every girl is different so just see what happens you can always change! I hope I helped.
  2. Hey I am 30 years old and I just started taking YAZ ( I dont have any kids but I am sexually active, AIDS scare me more than getting pregnant so I use protection with the birth control ) I have never taking birth control in my life because I was always scared of the side effects and I the changes your body could poetenially go thru. I personally dont think you should take a birth control if you are not having sex especially since you are so young. I used to have very bad cramps and other problems when I was your age. I didnt turn to birthcontrol but however i suggest you look at what you are eating. What you eat affects your period. If you include more fruits and veggies and healhty food in your diet, drink water lay off the soda (if i have to have one its diet), and reduce your caffine intake, and last but not least exercise your period will naturally regulate and you will have less cramping, and as you get older your period will be less trouble. I am not comfortable taking birth control pills but ive heard at my age taking them have their benefits. good luck
  3. I don't have any personal advice on Yaz, but I do know that if you're primary reason for birth control is not to prevent pregnancy... then any generic BC should work.... Yaz is supposedly specified to help with the moodiness and PMS that comes along with the cycle. Different BCs are formulated for different reasons (I learned this from my doctor when I went to her wanting to get on BC to control my mood swings). Some are for shorter, lighter periods (Seasonique-only four periods a year), some are for acne, and some are for just typical birth control. But if you really believe BC will help you, go see your doctor. She will probably tell you that any BC pill will give you the results you are looking for. She will recommend a generic brand (that is way cheaper than Yaz, and probably as effective). Like I said, I went to my doctor a couple months ago for basically the same problems. I am twenty years old, have been irregular since I was 14... when you are in your teens, they tell you to expect to be irregular, but come on now... It has been six years, you know? Anyways, even though I have been non-regular, when I did get my cycle, it was very heavy and came with the headaches, bloating, fatigue, and killer cramps and backaches. So I finally went to the doctor to see if Birth Control would help any of this. Long story short, she told me that birth control might not be the miracle cure I was hoping for. And that this was something that 4 out of 5 girls deal with. But there are always different alternatives than BC pills.
  4. I am 37 yrs. old and hadn't been on birth control pills for years. I have been taking Yaz for almost 3 months now (though I just threw away the pack tonight) and would strongly suggest that you reconsider, ESPECIALLY if you don't need it for birth control. Do some research on diet, supplements, etc. to help with your regularity and cramping. I was very energetic and happy until I started taking this pill. I am also in good physical shape, have a pretty natural diet, drink plenty of water, etc. Though every pill will affect every woman differently, my side effects have included: nausea, extreme moodiness and irritability, really bad headaches, feeling bloated and gassy, cramping in the bottoms of my feet, frequent yeast infections, lowered sex drive, acne (when my skin was always clear,) and I have been EXHAUSTED all of the time, though I seem to have insomnia the week before my period since starting Yaz. As I was giving my body the full 3 months to "adjust," I have to say that all of these things have increasingly gotten worse, and my boyfriend and son have been walking on eggshells around me and seem to be waiting for my head to start spinning around at any given moment. I have basically felt either crazy and/or like I have some terrible disease for the last 3 months. Hopefully it won't take long to be out of my system so I can feel like my happy go lucky self again soon! Don't do it.
  5. I have been on Yaz for a month and a half. At first, it was very difficult. For the first week I felt really moody and sad, and I had cramps even though I didn't have my period. My acne got worse, but eventually better, and is not pretty much cleared up with exception of one or two. I have already had one period since being on Yaz and it was short, lighter and I didn't even need to take any medication for my cramps. Every girl is different so I suggest you try it. But for the 30 year old who said you shouldn't take BC if your not having sex and just change your diet, don't listen to her. I drink water, dont drink pop or any kind of caffeine, I eat veggies, fruits and healthy foods all the time, and that did not change how bad my cramps were. I Suggest you give it a try:) Good Luck!
